Assessment

Exams and exhibition work

In order to gain their Certificate in Oral Health Education, students must pass an exam (which takes place in Bristol each September), which is split into several parts: a written, multiple choice and short answer paper and a viva.

Case Studies, in which OHE must be given to 10 patients, are also undertaken throughout the academic year and documented. Two of these case studies must be expanded to 2000 word reports. Students must also produce an oral health education exhibition. (Either in their place of work or an appropriate establishment, like a school or a health centre).

Students are also expected to complete regular homestudy, which is returned to the tutors by e-mail or post for marking.

Please don't worry if this all sounds a little daunting at first, it will all become perfectly clear in our very first workshop in October 2008.
